Led by the charismatic singer and bodhrán player Cathy Jordan, Dervish is one of the most exhilarating and dynamic bands in modern Irish music. The distinctive six-member band, based in County Sligo in the west of Ireland, has earned widespread acclaim from both critics and fans for Jordan’s singing and the “extraordinary tightness of the lead instrumentalists, breathtaking as the music soars, turns, and plunges” (Dirty Linen). Since the group was formed in 1989, Dervish has toured extensively throughout the world and recorded 10 albums (the newest was released in May) showcasing the band’s musical philosophy of “innovation meets tradition.”
