Direct from Oahu, the Honolulu Hotshots is an all-star group of Hawaiian steel guitarists that includes Bobby Ingano (pictured), Jeff Au Hoy and Derrick Mau, joined for this appearance by local hula dancer Leilani Duteil. Making his third Cityfolk Festival appearance, Bobby Ingano, a native of Lanai City, specializes in nahenahe, the sweet steel guitar style from the islands. Inspired by his teacher, David "Feet" Rogers of the legendary Sons of Hawaii, Ingano seasons his traditional Hawaiian influences with jazz, blues, and country. He has recorded two albums, Steel Reflections and Stranger Here, and is great demand for session work in Hawaii. Jeff Au Hoy, a young multi instrumentalist and singer from Honolulu who has been mentored by Ingano, is a rising star in Hawaii. He is the featured steel player at the Halikulani (House Without a Key) in Waikiki three days a week. Derrick Mau, also from Honolulu, performs in the Fort Street area regularly, and also plays steel and sings with a Tahitian group. He will be touring in Tahiti just before the Cityfolk festival.
