One of the most celebrated and influential bands in contemporary bluegrass, Blue Highway is a Tennessee ensemble with the entire package: five great pickers, a superstar musician (Rob Ickes, with a record nine Dobro Player of the Year awards to his credit), three of the best lead singers in bluegrass, strong original material, a distinctive band sound, a pair of Grammy nominations and International Bluegrass Music Association awards including Album of the Year, Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year. The band—Tim Stafford (guitar), Rob Ickes (resophonic guitar), Wayne Taylor (bass), Shawn Lane (mandolin, fiddle) and Jason Burleson (banjo)—has recorded eight albums, the newest of which is Through the Window of a Train, released earlier this year. After 14 years together, Blue Highway is, in the words of Ricky Skaggs, “writing its own history in bluegrass: fresh, but as old as the hills.”
