United
Irish of Dayton, Inc.
was founded in 1973 when 10 independent Irish groups in
the greater Dayton area came together and joined forces
to represent the country of Ireland at the first “A
World A’Fair,” an annual international festival
in Dayton that showcases many aspects of global culture,
including food. The Kettering-based organization now has
more than 400 members who promote the rich historical
and cultural heritage of the Irish people at regional
festivals and community events.
Among its many cultural and educational
activities, United Irish of Dayton hosts a monthly “session”
of traditional Irish music in Beavercreek and organizes,
promotes and staffs the annual Dayton Celtic Festival.
While at the Cityfolk Festival, volunteers from the
organization will be showcasing Irish foods and selling
a recipe book their members put together of Irish recipes
handed down through the generations as well as a new
generation of Irish recipes.
