Tony Ellis

A legend among people who know bluegrass and old-time country music, Tony Ellis of Circleville is a banjo player of astounding skill and innovation. He has composed more than 80 works and received 11 awards from the American Society of Composers and Publishers, as well as playing an integral role in several highly influential bluegrass bands. An avid supporter of folk arts, Ellis has participated as a master artist in several traditional arts apprenticeships and represented Ohio folk music on international tours, as well as developing an organization to bring fine traditional musicians from around the world to Pickaway County. In recent years, Ellis has again taken up an extensive touring schedule, performing and lecturing throughout the world.
