Carolyn
Mazloomi of West Chester, Ohio is a strong
and effective advocate for African American women quilters,
establishing the Women of Quilters Network in 1986.
Beginning with only 10 members, the network has expanded
to more than 1,800 nationwide and 4,350 members in 23
chapters outside the United States. By bringing these
women together, she has fostered recognition of their
talents both within and outside of the African American
community. Her own quilts beautifully recount African
American history and are regularly shown in galleries.
She additionally lectures, establishes quilt exhibitions
and helps quilt researchers throughout the United States.
