Mock Turtle Marionette Theater

Mock Turtle Marionette Theater, established in 1978 by Doug and Christy Roysdon, is an award-winning puppet theater company from the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania that offers entertainment for the whole family. Based in its own 100-seat theater at the IceHouse in Bethlehem, Mock Turtle Marionette Theater presents year-round programs there and in regional schools and community centers. They have toured extensively throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia and Virginia and performed at the Kennedy Center, Philadelphia Folk Festival and in Germany and the Virgin Islands. The ensemble has produced nearly 20 original puppet plays featuring hand-carved wooden puppets, including such audience favorites as The Dancing Granny: Tales of African Origin, Jumping Mouse and My Name is Jeremiah. For its festival appearances, Mock Turtle Marionette Theater stresses fun, audience participation, storytelling and activities that engage children’s creativity. At the Cityfolk Festival, they will perform Punchinello Steps Out, which travels through the history of puppets from prehistoric times to the video age.
