For more than 20 years, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer have been singing, yodeling, telling stories and picking their way to stardom not only in folk music but also in children’s music. The Washington, D.C.-based duo has won two Grammy Awards and numerous Parents’ Choice Awards for such well-received albums as Bon Appetit! Musical Food Fun, Air Guitar, Pocket Full of Stardust and Scat Like That: A Musical Word Odyssey. Both women sing and they play guitar, mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle, and percussion between them, drawing from folk, bluegrass, country, western swing and more for a distinctive sound that has graced the stages of such venues as the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, Merlefest and the White House Easter Egg Roll. Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer “deliver children’s music at its purest” (Cookie), but “parents will be as entertained by the sublime musicianship and droll lyricism as the kids” (Boston Globe).
