Winners of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the Brasil Guitar Duo seamlessly blends classical repertoire with traditional and contemporary guitar music from Brazil. João Luiz and Douglas Lora have been performing together for more than a decade, beginning with classical guitar duets and gradually expanding their sound and repertoire to include such traditional Brazilian styles as samba, maxixe, choro and baião. A typical concert by the critically acclaimed duo includes classical works by Scarlatti, Sor and Bach, pieces by such renowned South American composers as Astor Piazzolla and Jacob do Bandolim and bold new works heralding the future.
