leading cultural ambassadors, Ladysmith Black
Mambazo is one of the world’s premier
vocal ensembles. A fixture on the international music
scene since appearing on Paul Simon’s seminal
Graceland album, Ladysmith has introduced the
beauties of Zulu harmony singing to a wide audience
through more than 40 albums over the past four decades.
Founded by Joseph Shabalala, the a cappella singing
group—also well known for its amazing and energetic
“tip toe” dancing—has won two Grammy
Awards and appeared in several movies and TV programs
in the U.S., from Austin City Limits to Sesame
Street.
